'Chippy' McNeish's (carpenter on the Endurance) diary is in the collection of the Alexander Turnbull Library in Wellington, New Zealand. (He is buried in that city a few hundred feet from perhaps his least favorite shipmate, Thomas Orde-Lees.) Shane transcribed the diary some time ago and has kindly provided it to The Antarctic Circle to post on its website.
Original lantern slide of the departure of the James Caird from Elephant Island, April 24, 1916, about noon (cracked). This image was provided to Shane by John James, son of 'Jimmy' James.
